~Chapter 1~
Sakura and her four friends didn't have a clue about the Clow Book nor the Clow Cards until the day that they found them in the basement of Sakura's house. They were just looking around for stuff in there when Sakura spotted the magical book inside a box. Sakura motioned for her friends to come to her to show her discovery to them. Sakura opened the book, curious of what it held because of the mysterious looking cover. She found that it wasn't like any book she'd ever seen. Inside it were cards- very unusual cards. Sakura took the card on the top of the pile and held it in her hand for her to inspect it. There was a small caption under what looked to be a picture of a woman. Sakura read it out loud," The Windy." Suddenly, the whole basement was flooded with blinding light and everyone had to shield their eyes to prevent them from getting sore. A card was flown into each of Sakura's friends. All of the other cards flew out of the house, escaping through the walls. The basement was filled with darkness once again and silence fell into the room. The book laid still for a moment then twitched. Something small and yellow was coming out of the book. It looked like a small yellow stuffed animal with wings and had a round head. Everyone stepped back in fright. The little thing stretched and finally noticed that there were kids around him. "Uh.... Hey," he said. He flew to Sakura and asked,"You're the one who opened the book, right?" "Uh, yes I did," Sakura replied. "Well that would explain why you're holding Windy. So I guess you're one of the chosen ones. But what's up with them?" he said pointing to the four other kids. "I guess they're also in the magical families..." "Hold on! Who are you? WHAT are you?" Sakura asked. "I am Keroberos, Guardian of the seal. I protect the Clow Book," he said pointing to the book he came out of. "The Clow Book holds the Clow Cards. Only the chosen people with magical powers have the power to open the book and break the seal. You unleashed the cards and it's your job to retrieve them all. Youre name's Sakura, right?" "How do you know?" Sakura questioned. "My master has mentioned a lot about these chosen people for along time ago and also showed me what you guys look like. But I dont understand why they got Clow Cards... They weren't mentioned by my master at all." "So you mean they were unexpected?" Sakura said. "Aha! Thats it! My master has always told me to expect the unexpected! So I guess this was one of his tests for me. But he has talked about you and this other kid more than any other of the chosen ones have. Uh.... What was his name now? Oh! Li Showron. Do you know who he is?" "No," Sakura said. "Well time to get down to business. You unleashed the cards so you are a Cardcaptor. Your friends here received cards, too, so they're Cardcaptors also."
"Whats a Cardcaptor?!" Sakura said. "One who has to capture all of the Clow Cards," Kero answered. "Hey could you hand me the Clow Book, Sakura?" "Here you go Kero," Sakura said as she gave the book to Kero. "Thanks kid. Ok. I, Keroberos, Guardian of the seal appoint Sakura and her friends Cardcaptors!" The Clow Book shot five things out of it. It shot one thing to each of the kids. Sakura received The Key of Clow, which could seal the Clow Cards once again and activate the Clow Cards. The two boys, Brian and Nathan, received The Blades of the Clow, which could also activate the Clow Cards and have special, unique powers. Both of them were similar swords, but also different. Last, the two girls, Katie and Amy, received The Hearts of the Clow, which could also activate the Clow Cards and have special powers, too, but different from the special powers of the swords. They, too, were similar and different. "What cool things, Kero!" Sakura said. She turned to her friends," Why have you guys been so quiet this whole time?"
"Oh, we just didn't want to interrupt your conversation with Kero," Nathan said. "I hear someone!" "Sakura? Hey Sakura!" It was Sakuras older brother, Tori. "Quick, Kero, pretend you're a stuffed animal!" Brian ordered. Kero plopped down on the ground right when the door flew open, trying his best to act like a doll. "Sakura, are you in here?" Tori yelled. "Yeah, Tori I'm in here with my friends." "Oh, ok. Well I was just checking on you," Then he left the basement. "Phew, that was close," Kero said as he got up. "Yeah," Nathan agreed. Suddenly, the phone rang and they heard Tori's voice talking on the phone. The door opened. "Hey Brian, your mom wants you to come home now." Tori said. "Ok. Thanks Tori," Brian said. "See you guys." "Bye Brian," Nathan said. "Come to think of it, I guess I'll go too." And Nathan, too, left. It was only the three girls and Kero left. "Hey Amy, didn't you say that you were supposed to study for the coming-up English test?" Sakura asked her friend. "Oh yeah!" Amy remembered. "I got to go! Bye!" And she left. "Sakura, we have plans remember?" Katie told Sakura. "Oh, it must have slipped my mind," Sakura said. "Pssst," bring Kero," Katie whispered." Sakura, Katie, and Kero went outside the house. Their friend's birthday was coming up and Sakura and Katie were going to buy her a gift. "Uh, Katie where are we going?" Kero said. "Oh, its Madison, our friend, has a birthday coming up and we're buying her a present for her." Katie said. The trio went to the mall and bought Madison a digital camera because she loved electronics. "We had to save our allowances for a while to buy it, Kero" Sakura said. "Wow it must be pretty expensive," Kero said. "Yeah, but we want to buy her the perfect gift all the time," Katie said. "Sakura, I have to go now. I'll wrap the present for Madison." "Ok, bye Kate," Sakura said. "I'll go home now, too." The two went their own paths home. Sakura took Kero home because he said he wanted to be with the Clow Book.
