The day went on and they made another attempt to befriend Li. It was during PE.
"Hey, Li," Brian had said while they were running laps around the field. "What's up?"
"Nothing," Li answered without looking at him.
"What did he say?" Nathan asked Brian as he caught up to him and Li increased his speed.
"'Nothing'," Brian recalled. "That's all he said, 'nothing.' I asked him 'what's up?' and that's what he said back."
"Hi guys," Sakura waved hi to Brian and Nathan as they passed the girls in their PE class.
"Hi," Brian and Nathan greeted Sakura, Amy, and Katie as they were waving at them.
"Any luck?" Amy asked.
"No," Brian answered, as he finally understood that she was asking about Li.
"Ok guys, let's take five!" The boys' PE coach yelled.
The girls were also taking a short break, too, after they had done the long jump five times.

Finally, the long school day was over and the five were walking home.
"You guys, let's go get our presents for Madison." Sakura reminded.
"Right," They said.
"Let's meet at the front of Madison's house," Amy suggested. "It'll be better if we come there all at the same time. Ok?"
"Sure," They all said to Amy.

In about ten minutes later, they all were at the footsteps of Madison's house.
"It's a good thing we all live near each other," Nathan said.
"Talk about a coincidence..." Brian added.
Katie rang the doorbell. A few moments later, the door opened.
"Uh...yes?" Madison had answered the door. Her voice was a little sore.
"Hi Madison!" Katie cheerfully said.
"Hi!" Everyone else greeted her, too.
"Oh, hi guys!" Madison said happily. "I didn't expect to see you. What a surprise!"
"Where not the surprise, Madison, these are," Sakura said as she handed her the four neatly wrapped presents they had bought for her.
"Thank you, guys!" Madison's face went from a pale color to a bright red because of her satisfaction.
"Please, come in guys," Madison pleaded. She had to re-pay her friends at least a little for those presents they had given her.
So they all went inside her house and sat down at the couch in her living room.
"It's nice to see you're looking better, Madison," Brian said. "I hate it when I get the flu, too."
"Yeah, it was torture," Madison agreed.
They stayed for only 15 minutes because they had to go home and finish their assignments.
"Thanks for having us in your house," They all thanked Madison.
"Well, thanks for the gifts," Madison thanked. "You guys are great - Oh! I almost forgot! I'm having a party and I want you guys to come." She ran back inside the house to get five invitations for her friends.
"Here you go, guys," She came back outside and gave them out. "I hope you all can come. It's the Saturday after our field trip ."
"Of course we can come, Madison," Amy assured her. "We wouldn't miss it for anything! We're all close friends."
"Thanks guys," Madison once again thanked them, blushing slightly.
"Here Madison," Sakura gave Madison the homework that she missed. "Well we have to go home now. Bye, Madison."
"Bye," They all said bye to her as they went down the road.
Sakura lived the closest to Madison.
"Bye, guys," Sakura waved good-bye.
Next was Brian.
"See you, guys"
After him was Nathan.
"Bye."
Katie and Amy lived on the same street. They usually were the last ones to go home because they lived the farthest from school, but close enough to be in walking distance. Katie and Amy bid farewell to each other and went home.
